15 May - To Mount Waddington C and an Air Bnb
We enjoyed a slow chilly morning as we prepared and sipped our morning hot drinks and looked out over the Strait watching the mountains change with cloud formations and the sun broke through as it came up.
A further moment of reflection was afforded by meeting a great Douglas Fir as we headed out of the campground. It's the oldest tree in the area -- guessed to be 600 - 800 years! The tree is a testament to endurance. At first, loggers tried to cut it down, then stopped, and she still bears that scar. Then as she grew taller, she started dying, but a courageous arborist climbed high to cut out the dead parts about 30 years ago. She still stands -- apparently offering a home to an eagle in the upper branches.
We meandered along the eastern highway, #19 heading to the north of the island. It was an uneventful journey through forest and mountains -- a rather grey day with some showers. We arrived at our AirBnb and are charmed by it's cleanliness, and welcoming provisions - like a bowl of fruit and a fresh loaf of bread.
We enjoyed the chance to do some laundry, take showers, do some work, and process some more photos.

Enjoyed the story line and the pictures!
